About Us

Garage 803 Racing is a team of high school students that compete in the Solar Car Challenge. We are based in Mountain View / Los Altos region in California. As a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, we work on designing, constructing, and competing with solar-powered cars while motivating hands-on green energy awareness and sustainability. We are a group of students who passionately explore different components of solar car construction and learn real-world problem solving skills along the way. Through commitment and perseverance, we strive to inspire students in our area to create large scale real-world hands on projects.

2026 Race Results

In the 2026 Solar Car Challenge, we created an Advanced Division car named "Mako" and drove the car around Texas. As a student run non-profit solar car team, we would like to thank all of our teammates, parents, donors, and corporate sponsors for all the support throughout this season. In the competition, our car a total of 110.9 km purely on solar power across Texas and an additional distance on our own. This year we explored working with new materials and building techniques mainly through building the solar array and aeroshell, and we hope to keep building again in the future.

Our Aim

We aim to provide an environment which allows for students to explore one of the aspects of an engineering pathway, work with peers, and serve the community.

Our Goal

Our goal is to foster the development of soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem solving, as well as hard skills in CAD, design, manufacturing, etc.
